Diogenes as a Masochist

Jean-Léon Gérôme, 1860
Diogenes of Sinope (404 - 323 bc) is important figure of cynic philosophy but stories about his life could also serve as an example of asceticism and moral masochism. He adored dogs for their honesty and simplicity and tried to live like one - in a ceramic jar in the marketplace he begged for his food, ate on public, performed bodily functions on public and did everything to upset people.

John William Waterhouse, 1882
Two painting from 19th century are rather interesting. Gérôme painted his Diogenes as desperately lonely fool sitting between dogs, his only companions, lighting the lamp in daylight to search for an 'honest' man, for love. Waterhouse 22 years later painted Diogenes with the lamp already extinguished. His broken Diogenes is turned into a dog, into a target of ridicule and contempt for the rich Ladies. He is just an attraction for them. It is really masochistic painting.

Everyone needs a little hope...

I saw Her today at the reception
A glass of wine in Her hand
I knew She was gonna meet Her connection
At Her feet was a footloose man

You can't always get what you want
You can't always get what you want
You can't always get what you want
But if you try sometimes well you might find
You get what you need

And I went down to the demonstration
To get my fair share of abuse
Singing, 'We're gonna vent our frustration
If we don't we're gonna blow a 50-amp fuse'

You can't always get what you want
You can't always get what you want
You can't always get what you want
But if you try sometimes well you just might find
You get what you need

I went down to the Chelsea drugstore
To get your prescription filled
I was standing in line with Mr. Jimmy
And man, did he look pretty ill
We decided that we would have a soda
My favorite flavor, cherry red
I sung my song to Mr. Jimmy
Yeah, and he said one word to me, and that was 'dead'
I said to him

You can't always get what you want
You can't always get what you want
You can't always get what you want
But if you try sometimes you just might find
You get what you need

I saw Her today at the reception
In Her glass was a bleeding man
She was practiced at the art of deception
Well I could tell by Her blood-stained hands

You can't always get what you want
You can't always get what you want
You can't always get what you want
But if you try sometimes you just might find
You just might find
You get what you need

Amis and Amil

slave domnei's blog entry from yesterday is dedicated to Julius Zeyer and Artuš Scheiner. Let me add a couple of remarks from Czech perspective. Zeyer's whole life (1841-1901) was troubled by his homosexuality. It was socially unacceptable, unacceptable for him personally, it was his 'terrible secret'. No wonder all his work is nostalgic and depressive and usually very tragical. His 'Romance about the Faithful Friendship of Amis and Amile' from 1877 is probably his most open work.
Amis and Amil, both very brave and more then good looking knights, physically indistinguishable and also best friends. Amis is quite unhappy in his marriage - his very beautiful Wife is a witch, but Amis took and hid Her magical belt and without Her powers She is mean and evil and hates him. Amil is in love with a Princess but he must fight for Her. He is not very good with a sword so Amis agree to fight instead of him and they switch their roles. Amis of course wins the fight and also the Princess for Amil. Meanwhile his Wife found the magical belt. With Her powers back She turns Amis into old wretch and kicks him out of his (now Hers) palace. His friend Amil is happily married to Princess but he is also very sad because of the friend disappearance. They find each other after a couple of years and Amil is ready to do everything to help Amis. Literally. Amil gets an advice form St. Patrick to kill his two children and bath Amis in their blood. He does it without much thinking and it works - young Amis is back! Fortunately the statue of Maria returns life to both children and also destroys the cruel Wife-Witch. Amis is living happily with Amil and they die together...
The novel was and I believe still is the school recommended reading in Czech Republic... I am enclosing two other Scheiner's beautiful illustrations from the book...

Munch's Salome

man's head, 1886
Multiple Munch's Salome pictures shows a head of the painter tied up in Woman's hair. Salome is his Mistress, he is giving his head to Her, he is giving Her his life for the slightest touch of Her hairs, for fleeting happiness of that one moment, brief moment of connection, moment of pleasure that should last forever. Munch IS a poet of masochism.

D&G 2013 - The Golden Cage

i am not excessively fond of over-stylized world of D&G ads. However, the picture above from D&G's Fall/Winter 2013 campaign talks to me - the group of males, regardless of all their effort to be something and somebody else, remains to be just a band of awkward dwarfs next to The Woman.
And one detail from D&G Fall/Winter collection makes the ad even more Femdom - the Shoes. The shoes with the cage seems to be designed in a wild dream of masochistic shoe fetishist. The golden cage in a sole or heels of the beautiful shoes is a perfect place for all male midgets.

Lion in cage

Like a lion in cage... Peruvian painter Daniel Hernández Morillo (1856-1932) did not portray sad lion in the zoo, but rather a slave full of dreams about his unreachable and so beautiful Mistress...

The Miracle

Lately i do not write about myself much. More than half a year ago i met a Woman. The Woman. The Mistress. There are many heavenly beautiful Women in this world, but if you meet one just as beautiful inside, it is a miracle. The miracle. You are waiting your whole life for the right person to come along. SHE found me and now i am HER slave, HER unbelievably lucky slave. i do not know what will happen next and i do not know how to write about such things. The only thing i know is that i witness the miracle, SHE is the miracle and i am here for HER.

Today we are celebrating International Women's Day. i wish to every Woman to get and share (at least some) qualities of my gorgeous, unique and the only Mistress. It would make this planet a wonderful place to live. Thank YOU, my Mistress, thank YOU for everything.

Ungaro's Femdom Ads, Part 2

Emanuel Ungaro's 2000 Spring/Summer campaign offered very suggestive and Femdom interpretation of petting. The male is her pooch, She is his Mistress, he waits for Her, he loves Her, he does everything She wants. She plays with him, She caresses him, She commands him, She punishes him. She owns him. What a lucky dog!

Ungaro's Femdom Ads, Part 1

In 2000 the Emanuel Ungaro label was still directed by its founder, a French famous fashion designer of the same name. Both advertising campaigns of that year brought really great Femdom pictures to us. In Fall/Winter ads the male is turned into a stone, overwhelmed by the Woman's beauty, Her personality, Her Womanhood... he lost all his own thoughts, feelings and desires, he lost his live to the one gorgeous Woman, the only one he ever loved. he just gave everything to Her.

Reader's Diary (Week 9)

Kneel down, move your lips in prayer, and you will believe.
